Traditional and Classic 1930’s Bathroom Renovation In Philadelphia
Project Description
Two bathrooms needed updating in a beautiful 1930’s home in a northern suburban section of Philadelphia. Keeping the style similar to that of the time period, the design reflects the era with classic fixtures and a black and white motif with Carrera marble being the central focus.
The powder room on the main floor features a natural stone floor in the larger scale hexagon pattern, that plays off beautifully of the deep sea green of the walls. Classic fixtures with modern lines add a touch of contemporary style while keeping the 1930’s mood.
The upstairs guest bathroom had outlived its days of a teenage girls bathroom and was ready to step a foot into a more grown up and sophisticated look. The tub was removed and an open airy walking shower stepped into its place. A half wall allows for longer sight lines, and tucks a bench into its corner. Black pencil tile accents the shower perimeter and adds architectural detail to the ceramic tile that looks just like real marble. The classic pedestal sink features a wide vanity top, and coordinates beautifully with the articulate mirror and chrome fixtures. Lavender paint was changed to an upscale gray, with a nod to its lavender past by translating on the warmer side. The homeowner’s favorite feature lies beneath the white mosaic floor tile, as an electronic radiant heat floor. Cool winter mornings never felt so good
